Why are we providing a freeware utility to compress HTML?
HTMLSqueeze has recently been upgraded, we feel it now reliably compacts web pages. Therefore we have released this free beta (pre-release) version to gain further feedback from other people.
Why is HTMLSqueeze a command line utility?
The idea behind the program is to compress HTML following changes to the HTML files. Then the files can be uploaded to the web site (not part of the program). The quickest and most convenient way to do this is by using a batch file.
What else can it do?
The power behind HTMLSqueeze is that if you are building a web site on a local intranet, perhaps using ASP (Active Server Pages) you can pass the URL into HTMLSqueeze along with a parameter, determining the type of compression; then if you add calls for each page in your web site to a batch file, HTMLSqueeze shows is true power. HTMLSqueeze isn't just a HTML file compressor (or removing white space), you can use it to generate HTML files from dynamic sources, e.g. ASP, PHP etc.
Whats does HTMLSqueeze do?
Removes spaces and end of line breaks
Removes unnecessary HTML code which web browsers don't need.
Removes HTML syntax like quotes which aren't required
Replaces longer HTML tags with shorter ones.
Removes comments
So HTMLSqueeze causes the HTML file size to shrink and make the HTML code more compact
Features
Accepts URLs as well as files
You can specify Just carriage return and Tab character removal, No compression, or full compression
Check for updates, via the Windows user interface.
A vital Search Engine Optimzation tool
